ARCANE ROOTS – Melancholia hymns
Grosse confirmation de ce groupe qui se cale facilement parmi les références du Rock britannique actuel, avec un album plus calme, plus travaillé et plus personnel.
BRUTUS – Burst
La découverte fraîche de cette année (merci SagresMetal), leur délire Punk-Metal-Shoegaze me touche beaucoup, sans compter la voix de Stefanie Mannaerts qui me retourne complètement.
CORMORANT – Diaspora
Du Blackened Death, du Heavy, du Prog, je suis vendu à l’alchimie de cet album à la fois touffu et parfaitement maîtrisé.
DEPHOSPHORUS – Impossible orbits
Je ne vais pas paraphraser ma chronique, allez la lire ^^
ELDER – Recflecting of a floating world
L’album à riffs de l’année, une cohésion de groupe incroyable.
FLESHKILLER – Awaken
Le bon Death mélodique se fait rare alors je ne boude pas mon plaisir, d’autant que Ole Borud est un artiste vraiment talentueux.
REDEMPTOR – Arthaneum
Un groupe qui a su digérer ses influences afin de donner vie à un projet personnel et original. Cet album explore des contrées vraiment intéressantes.
RIVER BLACK – S/T
Une grosse résurgence du Sepultura période Chaos A.D. avec un son énorme, un album #danstaface qui passe vraiment tout seul.
SOEN – Lykaia
Abouti, superbe.
ULSECT – S/T
Une alchimie qui fait mouche, un premier album solide, la suite risque d’être énorme.
KRALLICE (Loüm / Go be forgotten) et THE HOUSE HARKONNEN (Vol. 5) que j’exclue de mon top (car ils sont tombés dedans quand ils étaient petit) pour laisser la place aux copains.
J’ai également exclue LEPROUS (Malina) et CALIGULA’S HORSE (In concact) car même si ce sont de bons albums, j’ai été un poil déçu.
Le prix spécial J’ai plus de place dans mon Top 10 pour GONE IS GONE (Echolocation), OXBOW (Thin black duke) et THE VOYAGER (Ghost mile).
Le prix spécial Album de Death technique québecois de l’année pour SUTRAH (Dunes) dont je parlerai prochainement.
Le prix spécial des albums 2016 découverts en 2017 pour DORMANT ORDEAL (We had it coming) et le très étrange KHTHONIIK CERVIIKS (SeroLogiikal Scars (Vertex of Dementiia)).
